Monitor your Shopify checkout with Claude

By Gary Gillespie · Last updated

The point of putting monitoring behind MCP is that you stop operating a dashboard and start asking for outcomes. Here is what that looks like in practice, and where its honest limits are.

What you can ask for

With the monitoring tools available in the session, an assistant can turn plain requests into real actions:

  • "List the checkout tests for clientstore.com and tell me which are failing."
  • "Trigger a run of the mobile checkout test and wait for the result."
  • "Pull the video for the last failed run so I can see where it broke."
  • "Summarise the last week of runs for this store."

Because the assistant gets the signed video and trace URLs back from the tools, it can point you straight at the evidence rather than just asserting a pass or fail.

Why an agent is a good fit for this

Checkout monitoring produces a lot of structured detail: per-test state, desktop and mobile results, durations, videos, traces. Triaging a failure usually means joining several of those together. An assistant with the monitoring tools can do that joining in one step, which is faster than clicking across a dashboard, and it can explain what it found in context.

It is also the natural bridge to agentic commerce: as AI agents start to shop and operate stores, the people running those stores will want to operate their monitoring the same way.

The honest limits

Two things to be clear about. First, this runs through a local MCP server that you register and that uses your own key; it is not a hosted service you log into. Second, it is a Claude capability today. There is no ChatGPT app or plugin, so "monitor with ChatGPT" is not something we can honestly offer yet. If and when a hosted connector or other assistants are supported, we will say so plainly.

Frequently asked questions

Can I monitor my Shopify checkout with Claude?
Yes. With the Revenue Shield MCP server registered as a connector, Claude can list your checkout tests, trigger runs, and pull the video evidence for a failure, all from plain-language requests.
Can I monitor my Shopify checkout with ChatGPT?
Not yet. The current integration is an MCP server supported by the Claude family. There is no ChatGPT app or plugin for it today.
Does the AI assistant decide whether checkout is broken?
No. The pass or fail comes from a real scripted checkout run with video proof. The assistant triggers runs and reads the results; it does not judge the checkout itself.
